ScamPause is a Windows safety toolkit that helps you examine suspicious messages, screenshots, links, email addresses, and phone numbers before sending money, sharing information, clicking a link, or responding to a suspicious request.

It combines local scam-pattern analysis, safe URL inspection, Windows OCR, educational guidance, local history, and optional online reputation checks in one simple application.

CHECK SUSPICIOUS MESSAGES

Paste a suspicious text, email, DM, marketplace message, or other communication into ScamPause.

The app looks for warning signals such as urgency, threats, unusual payment requests, impersonation, secrecy, requests for sensitive information, remote-access requests, suspicious links, and other common scam patterns.

ScamPause then gives you a 0–100 risk score, a risk level, and a likely scam category.

Received something suspicious as an image?

ScamPause can use local Windows OCR to extract the text from a screenshot and run it through the same scam-checking system.

The screenshot itself is not intentionally uploaded for this process.

INSPECT LINKS WITHOUT OPENING THEM

The Safe Link Inspector examines suspicious URLs without intentionally visiting the destination.

It can highlight signals including unusual domains, misleading subdomains, raw IP addresses, URL shorteners, punycode, suspicious redirect patterns, brand/domain mismatches, risky login paths, and suspicious download patterns.

CHECK PHONE NUMBERS & EMAIL ADDRESSES

Optional online reputation checks can examine a phone number or email address for additional reputation signals.

These checks are only performed when you explicitly press CHECK ONLINE.

ScamPause routes the request through a secure server-side proxy so the reputation provider's API credentials are not stored inside the desktop application.

VERIFY SAFELY

A scam score should never be your final decision.

ScamPause includes Verify Safely guidance designed to help you independently confirm claims using contact information and channels that you locate yourself.
